Grant Opportunity

Skill Advance Colorado Job Training Grant – Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade provides grants to Colorado companies which are locating or expanding in the state for upgrading the skills of current employees. Funding up to $1,400 per employee is available through the Skill Advance Colorado training programs.

Local Training

Southwest Colorado Workforce Center provides the following free services: Job listings, computer and internet access, career counseling and training for job seekers, recruitment of workers, pre-screening, and referral services, tax credits and training reimbursement for employers, customers can choose either self-service or staff-assisted options to meet their employment needs.

Pueblo Community College Southwest is an affordable, accredited community college located just 15 minutes outside Cortez providing quality general education classes and degrees in a broad range of programs including career and technical programs.  PCC offers daytime, evening and on-line instruction.

Unlimited Learning Center in Cortez offers adult basic education services, as well as certificate and degree programs from Associate through Master’s and Ph.D degrees. Their courses are designed to prepare future workers to succeed in promising occupations in the region.  

 

Regional Training 

Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, is only 45 minutes away and is ranked 9th in the west by US World News.  It’s known as a place of experiential learning and an incubator of ideas and opportunities.  

San Juan College, located in Farmington, NM, is just over an hour from Cortez and offers education and training classes online and is an additional option for training your personnel.
